Is there life on other planets? Truth in Religion: The modern study of religion on an evolutionary hypothesis and the comparative study of religions have contributed to an extensive questioning whether there is any absolute truth in religion, or at least any standards by which truth in religion may be known. Truth is incompatible with and intolerant of all error. A lie believed is still a lie. An individual belief in such a system is true if it sufficiently coheres with, or makes rational sense within, enough other beliefs; alternatively, a belief system is true if it is sufficiently internally. Truth renews our minds, revives our hearts, and redirects our steps. Indeed, it is controversial whether a correspondence theory should rely on any particular metaphysics at all. There are, indeed, processes of checking and verifying beliefs, but they work by bringing up further beliefs and perceptions and assessing the original in light of those. Anti-realism of the Dummettian sort is not a descendant of the coherence theory of truth per se. The emphatically characteristic teaching of Christianity is that the will to produce truth, to do the will of God, is the requisite attitude for apprehending the truth.
